How claims work in Yukon
Yukon claims are administered by the Mining Recorder (Department of Energy, Mines and Resources), with offices in Dawson City, Mayo, Watson Lake and Whitehorse. Placer claims fall under the Placer Mining Act and quartz claims under the Quartz Mining Act; staked ground is marked with tagged posts on the ground and recorded at the recorder’s office. Verify both.

Yukon claims are administered by the Mining Recorder (Department of Energy, Mines and Resources), with offices in Dawson City, Mayo, Watson Lake, and Whitehorse. Staked ground is marked with tagged wooden posts and recorded with the recorder's office — check the maps and the ground. Under the Placer Mining Act, claims are cheap to stake and blanket most productive creeks in the Klondike, Sixtymile, Mayo, and Kluane districts.
